No Apologies conference

This one day conference will focus on equipping Christ followers to understand the Christian faith more confidently so that we are able to help others understand it. Engage in meaningful conversations on topics regarding faith and how to talk with those that do not find the Bible authoritative led by founder and president of "Stand to Reason", Greg Koukl. STR is an organization that trains Christians to think more clearly about their faith and to make an even-handed, incisive, yet gracious defense for classical Christianity and classical Christian values in the public square.

Greg will speak at both Sunday Services at Faith Mountain. The conference session will take place following the 10:30 service with lunch and two break out sessions (see schedule below).

Greg started out thinking he was too smart to become a Christian and ended up giving his life for the defense of the Christian faith. A central theme of Greg's speaking and writing is that Christianity can compete in the marketplace of ideas when it's properly understood and properly articulated.

Greg's teaching has been featured on Focus on the Family radio, he’s been interviewed for CBN and the BBC, he’s debated atheist Michael Shermer on Hugh Hewitt’s national radio show, and did a one-hour national television debate with Deepak Chopra on Lee Strobel's “Faith Under Fire.”  Greg has been quoted in U.S. News & World Report and the L.A. Times. An award-winning writer, Greg has written or contributed to 14 books, including Tactics—A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions,  Relativism: Feet Firmly Planted in Mid-Air with Francis J. Beckwith, and Precious Unborn Human Persons. Greg has published nearly 200 articles and has spoken on 70 college and university campuses both in the U.S. and abroad.

October 16th - November 20th

The better that Christ followers understand the Christian faith, the more confidently we are able to help others understand it. "No Apologies" is geared towards helping us engage in meaningful conversations on topics regarding faith with those that do not find the bible authoritative. Christianity is an extremely reasoned and reasonable faith and we want to be equipped to confidently help others see it in that light.

October 15th - 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Greg will go through his book "Tactics: A Game Plan for Discussing Your Christian Convictions". Lunch is provided and the total cost is $15/person until October 9th and $20/person after that.

This event is at Grace Fellowship of Lakewood, 9210 W 2nd Ave., Lakewood, CO 80226.

What is Christianity?

What is Christianity? Is it a religious system? A relationship with God? A philosophy of life? A roadmap to Heaven? It is actually much more than any of those. Christianity is a story, a drama about conflict, love, betrayal, rebellion, self-sacrifice, and redemption. But this story isn’t a make-believe story. It is a story about the way the world actually is. It is the story of reality.

In this presentation, Greg narrates the Christian story—the Christian view of reality, or world view—in a way that is a refreshing in its simplicity and clarity. Greg describes the basic concepts that form the cornerstones of all world views, and the five simple words needed to outline the plot of the Christian account of reality.

The Intolerance of Tolerance

Why are so many people mad at Christians lately? Why are followers of Jesus often lumped in with other “religious fundamentalists” as a dangerous threat to liberty in America? Greg suggests that the heart of the problem is confusion about tolerance. In fact, things have become so twisted that what used to be called "tolerance" is now intolerance.

In this insightful analysis, Greg outlines what happened to cause the definition of tolerance to go topsy-turvy. He exposes what he calls the myth of neutrality and the myth of tolerance, and teaches a simple method to disarm the “tolerance trick.” He then closes by sharing what happened when he lectured to a packed audience at Berkeley.

Evolution: Why Not?

Evolution is one of the most controversial—and contentious—issues of our time. To many, those who deny evolution are in the same class as flat-earthers.

In this presentation, Greg carefully outlines why he rejects evolution—not for religious reasons, but for scientific ones. He exposes the weakness of the two essential pillars of Darwinism in a way anyone can follow. He then gives three powerful empirical reasons to take Intelligent Design seriously.

There is no need to pit “faith” against fact to refute evolution. An awareness of a few scientific realities is all you need.
